THERMAL BARRIERS :

The thermal barrier coatings fall into 3 categories: please click on to the relevant one within the tables below for more detailed information on the coating.

Category 1: Very high temperature (up to 1000ºC+ metal temperature) for direct application or on top of a base ceramic coat.
BLACK SATIN™ (click here to view)
Rated to 1000ºC+
Black Satin™ is an advanced high temperature thin layer thermal insulation coating. Developed for us on competition vehicle exhaust systems it has industrial uses as insulation for steam pipes, curing ovens, boilers and flues.
By nature of its colour the coating dissipates heat very quickly once the source has been turned off.
TURBOX™ Black/Blue (click here to view)
Rated to 1000ºC+
TurboX (available in black or oxford blue) is a derivative of Black Satin. Originally developed for use on the higher temperature turbocharged engine exhaust components it has excellent thermal insulation and adhesion properties. It has similar industrial applications as Black Satin but offers a glossier black or the blue finish.
COLORGUARD™ (click here to view)
Rated to 900ºC
The Colorguard range offer high temperature thermal insulation in a range of decorative colours. These are silver (aluminium look), charcoal grey (cast iron look) and titanium.
CERMARED/BLUE/SSTEEL™ (click here to view)
Rated to 700ºC
These coatings are coloured versions of the “Cermakrome” coating and have similar properties. The degree of shine can be varied by the amount of polishing time applied so interesting decorative patterns can be obtained. The “CermaSSteel” coating cures to a grey colour but takes on the appearance of stainless steel after time in a vibratory polisher.
CERMAWHITE™ (click here to view)
Rated to 870ºC
CermaWhite™ is an air drying high temperature coating that gives a chalk white finish even under high temperatures. The durable finish can be further topcoated with CermaSeal™ to give a hard shiny finish that is easy to keep clean.
CILGEN™ RED (click here to view)
Rated to 760ºC
CILGEN CERMASEAL™ (click here to view)
Rated to 760ºC
CermaSeal™ is an extreme temperature clear coating that provides a durable smooth finish that gives thermal insulation up to 760º C. Apply on top of various other thermal barrier coatings to improve their corrosion resistance and to give a semi-gloss finish.
GREY ICE™ (click here to view)
Rated to 1000ºC
This coating is a dark charcoal grey colour with a glossy finish. With excellent corrosion resistance and a temperature capability of 1000º C it has many potential industrial, architectural, automotive and marine applications.
HOT STOP™ (click here to view)
Rated to 1000ºC
TLHB is a multi-application coating. Easy to apply it provides excellent thermal insulation and corrosion protection. It can be applied inside chrome plated or polished stainless steel pipes and ducting to prevent colour changes at high temperatures or for corrosion protection inside high temperature pipes.
BASE CERAMIC HHBK (click here to view)
Rated to 1000ºC
Base ceramic HHBK is a water based thermal insulation coating that contains no VOC’s.
It has poor corrosion resistance as a cured coating but when used under any of the thermal barrier coatings listed it enhances the insulation capabilities considerably.
BASE CERAMIC Q-COAT (click here to view)
Rated to 1000ºC+
Q-Coat was developed specifically for use as a base ceramic coating on cast iron. It has excellent adhesion to the metal and provides a high level of thermal insulation. It is a water based coating so colours can be added and a clear top coat of CermaSeal™ applied to give a neutral coloured and durable finish.

Category 2: Reflective cermets for insulation on metals and composites.
CERMAKROME™MCX (click here to view)
Rated to 760ºC
Cermakrome™ is a water based thermal curing metallic ceramic coating that provides excellent corrosion protection under the harshest conditions even at 750º C. The highly polished surface seen above provides an aesthetically pleasing as well as top performing coating.
CBC1/CBC2/CBX (click here to view)
Rated to 1100ºC
CBC2 is a water based cermet (ceramic-metallic) coating that provides a hard, durable thermal barrier surface to materials that can withstand the 175º C oven curing temperature. These include carbon fibres, plastics and all usual metals except magnesium.
The highly polished surface also has thermal reflective properties. CBX is a harder version of CBC2 and CBC1 is the retail version that produces no hazardous fumes during curing.
IC-1 (click here to view)
Rated to 375ºC
IC-1 is an air-drying reflective thermal barrier that can be brushed or sprayed on to any surface.

Category 3: Lubricated thermal barrier for use inside machines and engines.
TLLB (click here to view)
Rated to 540ºC

TLLB is an oil-shedding coating for use where this characteristic is important such as in machine internals. It also has lubrication and thermal barrier properties allowing it to operate at temperatures up to 370º C.
