COMPOSITE
COATINGS :
Composite materials such as carbon fibre and high grade
plastics are replacing metals in many industrial applications. The
need for enhanced surface properties such as thermal protection
and low coefficient of friction are often still required and can
be met with the following coatings: |
| IC-105

| IC-105
is designed to provide a layer of insulation to isolate component
substrates from high temperature environments. It may be sprayed or
brushed on to virtually any clean substrate and has excellent adhesion
to many thermal set polymers as well as most metals. Water based and
designed to air with full chemical cure occurring at 150º C. |
| CBC2

| CBC2 is a water
based cermet coating that cures at 175º C to a grey/white finish which
is then polished to provide reflective thermal insulation for the
substrate beneath. An ideal coating for use on metallic and plastic
heat shields. |
| FRC
(FIRE RETARDANT COATING) (click

| FRC (Fire Retardant
Coating) is formulated to protect plastics, fibreglass, carbon fibre
and Kevlar from charring due to exposure to direct sources of heat.
It can be brushed or sprayed on to any of these and will also bond
to metals. |
| Any of the other
coatings that are cured within the temperature capability of the base
composite (typically 150º C) can be used for thermal insulation, lubrication,
thermal dispersion and anti-corrosion. Refer to the relevant section
